bagitback.ca : Ontario Deposit Return Program -- "The Ontario Deposit Return Program has one simple goal: to help protect the environment. While the Blue Box has beenand will continue to bean effective method of recovering recyclable material, the Bag It Back initiative will boost recovery rates to an even higher level." Citizens' Network On Waste Management -- "formed in 1981 by five Ontario citizens groups who met to share information and experiences on waste management. These groups vowed to find ways to benefit more fully from each others' knowledge and to help groups who are just becoming involved in the waste management issue. CSR: Corporations Supporting Recycling -- "a Canadian, not-for-profit, private sector organization that represents the packaging stewardship interests of consumer products and packaging industries. With a membership of about 120 international, national and local brand owner corporations and companies, we work with all levels of government, particularly municipalities, as well as non-government organizations and other industry groups to help develop sustainable municipal recycling and waste diversion systems. Don't Trash Michigan (www.stoptrash.org) -- "Whether you are concerned about improving recycling, reducing the amount of trash that comes from Canada and Michigan’s neighboring states, or want to put an end to illegal dumping in your community — or all of the above — it's more effective and fun when we work together." Ecology Center -- "a membership-based, nonprofit environmental organization based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Founded by community activists after the country's first Earth Day in 1970, the Center is now a regional leader in the struggle for clean air, safe water, healthy communities, and environmental justice." Michigan Environmental Council -- "provides a collective voice for the environment at the local, state and federal levels. Working with our member groups and their collective membership of nearly 200,000 residents, MEC is addressing the primary assaults on Michigan’s environment; promoting alternatives to urban blight and suburban sprawl; advocating for a sustainable environment and economy; protecting Michigan’s water legacy; promoting cleaner energy; and working to diminish environmental impacts on children’s health." Michigan Recycling Coalition -- "a non-profit environmental organization whose mission is to foster effective resource use in Michigan by developing, supporting and educating a coalition of business, government, non-profit and individual members working toward the common goals of waste reduction, recycling, reuse, composting and recycled-content purchasing." Michigan Waste Industries Association -- "a nonprofit consortium composed of Michigan-based companies who are involved in the collection, processing, recycling and disposal of solid waste. Members include neighborhood trash haulers, regional landfill operators and managers and environmental engineering firms working together to ensure that your solid waste is handled in a way that is both efficient and environmentally sound. Network of Waste Activists Stopping Trash Exports (NO WASTE) -- "an informal, Michigan-based, grassroots organization dedicated to educating the public about the huge problems associated with transborder (both state and national) shipment and disposal of solid wastes." (Last examined on 04/12/07).

Ontario Waste Management Association -- "speaks for nearly 300 independent companies in the private sector who provide the products and services for a better environment. Our business is to protect the environment through the proper management of waste and recyclable materials." (Last examined on 04/12/07).
Paper & Paperboard Packaging Environmental Council (PPEC) -- "a Canadian paper industry association dealing with environmental issues affecting paper-based packaging." (Last examined on 04/12/07).
Recycling Council of Ontario -- "a not-for-profit organization committed to minimizing society's impact on the environment by eliminating waste. RCO's mission is to inform and educate all members of society about the generation of waste, the avoidance of waste, the more efficient use of resources and the benefits and/or consequences of these activities. Republic Services, Inc.-- "provider of services in the domestic non-hazardous solid waste industry" (from Multex Fundamentals). Operates Carleton Farms Landfill in Sumpter Township, Wayne County, Michigan. (Last examined on 04/12/07).

trash-o-meter.com -- purports to show how many "tons of trash dumped on Michigan since Jan. 1, 2005." Paid for by the Michigan Quality of Life Fund, PO Box 13035 - Lansing, MI 48901 (no further information available).(Last examined on 04/12/07).
Waste Diversion Ontario -- " permanent, non-share non-government corporation created under the Waste Diversion Act on June 27, 2002. WDO was established to develop, implement and operate waste diversion programs for a wide range of materials that include Blue Box Waste, Used Tires, Used Oil Material, Household Special Waste, Electronic Waste, Organic Materials, Pharmaceuticals and Fluorescent Tubes. Waste diversion programs will be developed after materials are designated by the Minister of the Environment. WDO has been authorized by the Act to work co-operatively with those industries that produce and distribute these products to establish programs to divert waste materials."
