Community Environmental Assessment Team "In February 2006, Toronto City Council established a Community Environmental Assessment Team (CEAT) to guide the City’s environmental assessment for the management of residual solid waste under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act." Past Activities

Solid Waste Management Planning at the City of Toronto "This project is no longer active. The following information is provided for archival purposes. On October 2, 1998, City Council directed staff to engage the solid waste management marketplace to secure long term disposal capacity and to examine waste diversion options." Waste Diversion Task Force 2010 -- "charged with finding a 'made in Toronto' solution for waste diversion. The goal of Task Force 2010 is 30 per cent diversion by 2003, 60 per cent by 2006 and 100 per cent by 2010. After consulting with Toronto residents, environmental organizations and industry, senior levels of government and the private sector, Task Force 2010 presented a report to Toronto City Council in June 2001, recommending a comprehensive waste diversion plan."
