Canadian Opinion Research Archive -- "makes available commercial and independent surveys to the academic, research and journalistic communities. Founded in 1992, the CORA contains hundreds of surveys including thousands of discrete items collected by major commercial Canadian firms dating back to the 1970s. The CORA is continually adding new surveys and is always soliciting new data from commercial research firms and independent think tanks, research institutes, and NGO's. Individuals conducting research for non-commercial purposes are able to get access to the CORA holdings and conduct searches of the database by requesting a password from our manager." circ.ca Canada's Portal -- "The Centre for Research and Information on Canada (CRIC), established in 1996, manages the Council for Canadian Unity (CCU) research and communications activities. It keeps volunteers abreast of Canadians' thinking by constantly tracking and analyzing public opinion about the federation. This site provides access to different Council websites that feature information about programs as well as the outcomes of studies and polls. It is a source of information about conferences and seminars as well as articles on current events." Last examined on 10/31/05.

COMPAS -- "COMPAS today is an independent, non-partisan supplier of research and research-backed strategy to business, government, and not-for-profit organizations. Our independence and non-partisanship help our firm avoid conflict-of-interest." Last examined on 10/31/05.

Environics Research Group -- Part of the MORI International and IriS (International Research InstituteS) networks of companies, this Toronto-based firm performs market research in the following areas: automotive, environment, health, financial technology, public affairs, and social values. Any attempt to links from its official web site (www.environics.net) results in a "Connection refused" message. Last examined on 10/31/05.

Gallup Organization - Canada. -- "The Gallup Organization étudie la nature et le comportement humains depuis plus de 70 ans. Elle tire parti de cette connaissance approfondie pour mettre au point des instruments de mesure fondés sur la recherche, des programmes de perfectionnement et des services consultatifs stratégiques, tout cela avec un seul objectif en tête : aider les organisations et les gens à améliorer leur rendement." Ipsos Canada -- "We are one of the world's leading survey-based marketing research firms. We live and work in the largest markets and do business anywhere we're called on...Ipsos is Canada's leading provider of advertising research, marketing research and public affairs and public opinion research. We also care passionately about our industry, our communities and the country itself, and put money and time against each." Formerly the Angus Reid Group, it merged in March 2000 with the Paris-based Ipsos Group. Last examined on 10/31/05..

Leger Marketing -- With the acquisition of Ontario-based Criterion Research in September 2000, Leger & Leger became the fifth-largest market research firm in Canada. It adopted the name of Leger Marketing (LM) to reflect the Canadian scale of its business. This firm "offers a complete range of marketing services, from market studies to strategic consulting." LM "develops new, rigorous and flexible methodological approaches to help its clients make the right commercial decisions." POLLARA -- "the largest Canadian public opinion and marketing research firm, helps its clients improve their performance through strategic research designed and analyzed by consultants who are experts in their fields."Most of POLLARA's research results are confidential; however, these findings are in the public domain." Many media sources describe POLLARA as the Liberal Party's official polling firm. Last examined on 10/31/05..

SOM, Inc. -- "A private research organization, SOM stands for Survey, Opinion Polls and Marketing, a Canadian corporation. Established in Montreal and in Quebec City, its mission is to use its telephone and Internet data collecting, focus group, statistical processing and analysis capabilities to answer the research information needs of large public or private companies and their suppliers located in the North American market. SOM is active mainly in the area of market surveys and socio-economic studies." Last examined on 10/31/05.
